Background
Mike first became involved with Humanistic Psychology in 1970. His early formative experiences involved working in a number of institutions, before becoming involved with the Centre for Therapeutic Communication (an independent teaching organisation). From 1973 to 1975 Mike did a personal training ‘apprenticeship’ with an established Group Leader (before formal training courses were available). He completed the Minster Centre Psychotherapy Training in 1983, and since 1984 has participated in training programmes at Spectrum, including training in Supervision, where he still undertakes ongoing professional development.
Mike was a member of the Open Centre collective in London from 1982 to 1995 when he moved his London Practice to Spectrum, where he still works.
Since 1993 Mike has also worked in commercial settings running Personal Development and Team Development events in the UK and throughout Central and Eastern Europe, and parts of Africa, for Global Companies such as Hewlett Packard, BP, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Air Miles, as well as a number of smaller organisations.
In 1994 Mike participated in a Wilderness Trail in South Africa for the first time. Recognising the huge potential for personal development, Mike has worked with Guides from the Wilderness Leadership School to create the ‘Call Of The Wild’ Trails, which have run since 2000.
Mike has a B.A. in Social Sciences and is accredited by BACP.
